I found Hickman Designs via another printmaker online as they mentioned a new sharpening tool set they had discovered. I was fed up with paying to have my tools sharpened and as she mentioned she had purchased the EZ Care set from Hickman who were new to me I clicked on their website. Whilst ordering the sharpening set I found an amazing pair of Skull Scissors which I had to have along with some Cranfield safe wash printing ink. Hickson delivered free and quickly and I was really pleased with how the sharpening set worked especially as it will save me money. Will definitely use Hickman Designs again.

Caligo Safe Wash Relief Phthalo Blue: 75 ml Tube

This 75 ml tube of Phthalo Blue is part of Cranfield’s oil-based Caligo Safe Wash Relief range. Use it for lino, woodcut and other relief prints on paper, or add it to your existing colour palette.

Roll out a thin, even layer of ink and make a proof on the paper you plan to use for the edition. Image area, paper and ink thickness determine how much ink each print needs.

Paper, drying and clean-up

Use dry or lightly dampened printmaking paper without surface water. Drying depends on the paper, ink film and studio conditions; check that prints are ready before handling or overprinting.

Remove excess ink, work liquid soap or detergent into the remaining ink, then wipe and rinse with cold water. Dry equipment before storage. Water alone is insufficient and hot water should be avoided.
