About Permaset screen printing inks
Permaset is made by Colormaker Industries in Sydney, Australia. Its Aqua fabric inks are designed to produce colour with a soft feel on suitable textiles. Whether you are printing a small run of cotton tote bags or developing a layered T-shirt design, start by matching the ink range to your fabric and artwork.
Standard colours or Process colours?
Aqua Standard colours are useful for spot-colour work: a single-colour logo, bold lettering or a design built from separate areas of colour. The 300 ml pots are a practical starting point for workshops and smaller runs.
Aqua Process Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black are intended for four-colour screen printing with prepared colour separations and halftones. They suit photographic or tonal artwork, rather than simply replacing every Standard colour. Our 1 litre listings let you buy the individual process colours you need.
Printing on light or dark fabric
Aqua Standard inks are primarily intended for light-coloured fabrics. For opaque printing directly onto dark fabric, Permaset makes the separate Supercover range. Standard White and Supercover White are different products, so check the range name before ordering. Make a trial print on your chosen fabric to assess coverage and colour.
Curing and looking after your screen
Fabric prints need the correct heat curing for wash durability; being dry to the touch does not mean the ink is fully cured. Follow the instructions for the particular ink, fabric and equipment, then test a cured sample before producing a full run.
Keep the image area flooded with ink between impressions to help prevent drying in the mesh, and clean up promptly while the ink is still wet. For more guidance, read our guide to choosing screen printing inks.
