Power Grip tools by Mikisyo
Power Grip is Mikisyo’s range of Japanese carving tools, suitable for beginners and experienced printmakers. The hardened blades use a two-layer construction of steel and iron, with each cutting edge finished by hand. The contoured wooden handles provide a comfortable grip and help you apply pressure as you carve.
Choosing a cutter
U-gouges cut rounded channels and scoops, while V-gouges make angular grooves for linework and hatching. The 1 mm and 1.5 mm cutters suit fine details; wider V-gouges are useful for bolder linework. Choose the profile for the mark you want, then the width to suit its scale.
