Full 4 colour screen print.
Colour layers of the screen print, I did not add a bleed onto the colour layers when in the design stage so had white showing through when apply the last black layer (key). I had to use screen stencil stripper and a paint brush to give a small amount of bleed, so the black layer (key) covered the colour layers and left no white spaces on the final screen print.
Screen printed onto the tape used to block out the screen when printing.
The following design was an experimental design trying to document the rise and fall of the Berlin wall. The final piece was screen printed and has been documented in the following images. I have begun to redesign some elements of this design to add some more depth and add imagery. The final print was 4 colours and printed size was 840mm x 250mm.
In the design I have tried to use colours to represent each player in the world, classic cliche representation. Blue for the western and Nato countries, Brown for Nazi Germany and Red for the Soviet Union. The dates are the various stages of the Berlin walls construction and try to represent each stage of construction.
From being no wall and being free to pass between both East and West Berlin, to having walls and towers to stop people. There were a few pitfalls when screen printing this design as it was hard to register all the colours in line with each other as the design was so big.
