Incredible customer support! I ordered registration pins & tabs. The tabs are thick and really nice while the pins are strong, but elegantly thin and crafted really well. I’m thrilled to have them in my toolkit.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Hickman Design has a fantastic range of printmaking supplies, and I was delighted with the quality of the Essdee lino sheets and Japanese rubber brayer I ordered.
The service was incredibly speedy, delivery was quick, and everything was carefully packaged with obvious care and attention. It’s always lovely to support a business that clearly values both its products and its customers.
As someone rediscovering printmaking, I really appreciated being able to find quality materials in one place. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back for future supplies.

I found Hickman Designs via another printmaker online as they mentioned a new sharpening tool set they had discovered. I was fed up with paying to have my tools sharpened and as she mentioned she had purchased the EZ Care set from Hickman who were new to me I clicked on their website. Whilst ordering the sharpening set I found an amazing pair of Skull Scissors which I had to have along with some Cranfield safe wash printing ink. Hickson delivered free and quickly and I was really pleased with how the sharpening set worked especially as it will save me money. Will definitely use Hickman Designs again.

Product details.
Essdee – Lino Sheets & Blocks – 300x400mm (each) is traditional grey lino, hessian-backed to add strength and keep the plate flat while you carve and print.
Tool chatter is minimised, giving you predictable control for both bold clears and intricate marks. The hessian backing increases rigidity and reduces the risk of curling as your plate warms under the hand.
It rolls up evenly with a brayer and releases cleanly to common printmaking papers, from cartridge to smooth cotton stocks. Great for students learning mark‑making and for experienced printers producing consistent editions.
- Material
- Traditional grey linoleum
- Backing
- Hessian fabric for stability
- Tools
- Pfeil, Power Grip and common lino gouges
- Inks
- Compatible with water- and oil-based relief inks
- Format
- Practical sizes for studio and classroom use
If you value clean lines, reliable handling and a plate that stays flat, this hessian‑backed grey lino is a studio staple.
