If you're interested in learning about letterpress printing then be prepared to risk becoming a fully fledged ink-a-holic! If that doesn't put you off then welcome on board! Jo will run you through the basics of setting up movable type and you'll soon be familiar with point sizes, spacing and leading, quoins, formes and chases. culminating in a print run of your own design.

Workshops are offered in full or half day sessions. A maximum of two people can join a workshop to create one collaborative print, if your group is any bigger, or you would like to create individual prints each please contact Jo and we can discuss your requirements and pricing.

During the 3.5 hour session, Jo will talk you through the equipment in the studio and help you to compose your own print directly onto the bed of the proofing press. With as much ink as you can eat, you will create a small run of posters or smaller paper or card blanks.

If you would like to work on finer or extended printed work, a full day session would make more sense. You could explore setting type the traditional way using chases, and coins, on the clamshell presses or perhaps more involved work of a larger size, either way, we will need a longer day or a couple of short sessions.
