Monoprinting Negatives

The shown designs were created using a method called monoprinting, where by you ink a surface, place paper on top of the ink and draw onto the back side.

After I had printed the original I chose to then place another sheet of paper onto the inked area and print the negative area of the monoprint. Once this had been printed and left to dry I chose to work into the negative monoprints with fine line pens to help distinguish the outlines of the people in the design.

The inspiration for the shown monoprinting came from photography found online, which I  decided to base a few designs on. The final prints captured the tone and situation of the original images quite well and would like to further pursue this style of printmaking.
