Create detailed, one-of-a-kind monoprints with the Gelli Arts 5 x 7in Gel Printing Plate. Durable, reusable and easy to use, this versatile plate is ideal for experimenting with colour, texture, layering and mixed-media printmaking.
The sensitive gel surface captures fine details and textures, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced artists. Apply acrylic paint to the surface using a roller, then create patterns with stencils, leaves, bubble wrap, string, textured papers and other everyday materials. Soft brushes and rubber-tipped tools can also be used for mark-making and drawing directly into the paint.
For best results, avoid using sharp or hard-pointed tools, as these may scratch or permanently damage the printing surface.
Acrylic paints are recommended, although the plate can also be used with water-soluble printmaking inks, water-soluble fabric paints and suitable marker pens. The plate does not need to be cleaned between every print, allowing you to build up layers, ghost prints and unexpected colour combinations as you work.
After use, the plate can be cleaned easily with mild soap and water. Store it flat in its original packaging and keep it away from excessive heat or direct sunlight to help protect the surface.
Made from a unique plastic containing mineral oil, the plate is silicone-free, latex-free and non-toxic. It also contains no animal products.
The compact 5 x 7in size is perfect for cards, small artworks, sketchbooks, collage papers and printmaking experiments.
