I found Hickman Designs via another printmaker online as they mentioned a new sharpening tool set they had discovered. I was fed up with paying to have my tools sharpened and as she mentioned she had purchased the EZ Care set from Hickman who were new to me I clicked on their website. Whilst ordering the sharpening set I found an amazing pair of Skull Scissors which I had to have along with some Cranfield safe wash printing ink. Hickson delivered free and quickly and I was really pleased with how the sharpening set worked especially as it will save me money. Will definitely use Hickman Designs again.

Practical questions
Do I need a printing press?
No. Use the included baren to transfer your image by hand.
Why does the kit include Lino and SoftCut?
SoftCut offers an easier-carving starting point; traditional lino feels firmer. Compare their handling and practise your cuts before making a design.
Do I need to buy paper?
Yes. Paper or card is separate. Make a proof to check ink coverage before printing a batch.
Can I make greeting cards?
Yes. Plan your image within the card front and check the block dimensions against your chosen card.
Can I print on fabric?
Essdee advises against using the supplied standard ink on fabric: it is non-permanent and may smudge or wash out. Choose dedicated fabric ink and an appropriate fabric roller for textiles.
How do I clean the equipment?
Roll excess ink onto waste paper, work in a little detergent, rinse with warm water and dry. Avoid solvents on the roller.

Add blank cards & envelopes
The kit’s 150 × 105 mm SoftCut pieces can be used for a design on 115 × 170 mm folded cards with envelopes, leaving a narrow border when the 105 mm edge runs across the card. The larger 178 × 127 mm lino blocks exceed this finished front, so plan a smaller printed motif within the card panel.
Compare other blank cards and envelopes, check your image size and test one card before printing a batch. Card packs are purchased separately from this kit.
