ABIG Complete Lino Printing Kit – A6

Make your first small relief prints with this ABIG A6 lino printing kit. The set brings together carving tools, a lino sheet, black printing ink, a roller and an inking plate in a compartmented plastic box. Its approximately 105 × 150 mm block is a manageable starting point for a greeting-card motif, a bookplate, a monogram or a simple illustration.

Explore five cutting profiles

The beechwood handle accepts five interchangeable cutting nibs made from 0.6 mm hardened steel. Different profiles let you compare narrow marks, curved cuts and wider cleared areas as your design develops. Use the supplied nib remover when changing tools, then return the loose components to their compartments between sessions.

Plan the areas that will remain raised: these will receive ink and print onto the paper. Carve away the parts you want to leave unprinted. Reverse any lettering in your design so that it reads correctly in the finished impression.

Ink the block and take a proof

A 20 ml tube of black Aqua lino printing ink and an A6 inking plate are included. The rubber roller is 60 mm wide and 20 mm in diameter, with resting feet that help keep its inking surface clear of the table.

Roll out a thin, even layer of ink, then cover the raised surface of your lino. Take a trial print to check the balance of lines, textures and solid areas before making further cuts. Re-ink the block for each new impression, allowing your prints to dry before stacking them.

Prepare your printing space

Have suitable printing paper ready and follow the enclosed instructions. Printing paper is purchased separately. Supplied as the ABIG 12050 A6 set, with tools and materials organised in a reusable plastic storage box.

Add blank cards & envelopes

For greetings made with the kit’s approximately 105 × 150 mm lino, choose 115 × 170 mm folded cards with envelopes. The finished front leaves a narrow border around that block size. Plan the printed motif inside the panel, keep the fold clear and test one card with your chosen ink and pressure before making a batch.
