Description
The Michihamono Knife-tool Right 3.0mm Japanese Woodblock Print Chisel is a precision carving tool designed for detailed line work in woodblock printing, mokuhanga, and linocut. Forged in Japan from durable high steel, the blade is capable of taking a very sharp edge, allowing for clean, confident cuts with excellent control.
The right-handed knife-tool profile is particularly well suited to outlining forms, cutting fine lines, and refining edges where accuracy is essential. This makes it an excellent choice for detailed imagery and expressive mark-making in relief printing.
As the blade shortens through repeated sharpening, it can be removed and reset, extending the usable life of the tool and maintaining consistent performance over time.
The 3.0mm width offers a balance between precision and strength, making it suitable for regular studio use. Care should still be taken with smaller blades, as thinner cutting edges can be more vulnerable if excessive force is applied.
The chisel is fitted with a Sakura wood handle, with a handle length of approximately 110mm and a total length of 130mm, providing a comfortable grip and stable control. A protective cutting edge cap is included to preserve the blade and improve safety when not in use.
