Create colourful, detailed monoprints with the Gelli Arts 8 x 10in Gel Printing Plate. Designed to look and feel similar to traditional gelatine printing plates, this durable and reusable alternative can be stored at room temperature and is always ready for printing.
The larger 8 x 10in surface provides plenty of space for experimenting with colour, texture, layering and mixed-media techniques. Simply apply a thin layer of acrylic paint using a roller, create your design and transfer the image onto paper or fabric. The straightforward process makes gel printing accessible to beginners while offering endless creative possibilities for experienced printmakers.
The sensitive gel surface captures fine details and textures effectively. Patterns can be created using stencils, leaves, string, bubble wrap, textured paper and other everyday materials. Soft brushes and rubber-tipped tools can also be used for drawing and mark-making. Avoid using sharp or hard-pointed tools, as these may scratch or damage the plate.
Acrylic paints are recommended for the best results. The plate can also be used with water-soluble printmaking inks, water-soluble fabric paints and suitable marker pens. Cleaning between every print is not essential, making it easy to produce layered images, ghost prints and unexpected colour combinations.
After printing, the plate can be cleaned using mild soap and water. Store it flat in its original packaging and keep it away from excessive heat and direct sunlight to help maintain the printing surface.
The 8 x 10in size is ideal for larger artworks, journal pages, collage papers, card making, fabric printing and experimental monoprinting.
