Black acrylic ink for screen printing
Speedball Black Acrylic Screen Printing Ink in the 32 fl oz format provides a larger quantity for a studio that regularly prints in black. Choose it for repeated paper-printing sessions, a planned edition or several designs that share the same black ink. This listing is for one container of standard Black acrylic screen printing ink, ready to join the other colours in your studio palette.
Prepare an edition or repeated print session
Set out your paper, printing guides and drying space before beginning the run. A reference proof gives you something to compare with the next impressions as you check placement and coverage. Keep notes about the screen and paper used so a later session is easier to set up. If several designs will use the same ink, organise them in a sequence that allows time to clean or change the screen between images.
Paper, wood and cardboard
This water-based ink is formulated for use with a screen and squeegee. Speedball lists paper, wood and cardboard as suitable surfaces. It is not intended for washfast fabric printing. For changes in consistency, use an appropriate screen-printing modifier rather than adding water.
For help choosing between paper and textile inks, read our screen printing inks and mediums guide.
Colour and studio care
Speedball rates Black as Excellent for lightfastness, and the Acrylic Screen Printing Ink range is listed with ACMI AP certification. Clean ink from the screen and tools with soap and water before it dries, and follow the directions supplied with the ink.
Choose the container size
The larger container is useful when black is a regular part of your printing palette. Choose the 8 fl oz Black jar if a smaller quantity suits a trial project. Container size alone does not determine how many prints you will obtain: image area and your printing setup affect consumption.
