Description
The Michihamono Flat (Aisuki) 4.5mm Japanese Woodblock Print Chisel is a high-quality carving tool designed for efficient surface clearing and refinement in woodblock printing and linocut. Crafted in Japan from high steel, the blade offers excellent sharpness, durability, and control, even when working on plywood or layered blocks.
The wider flat Aisuki profile makes this size particularly effective for smoothing larger areas, levelling backgrounds, and creating clean, even surfaces around carved motifs. The gently rounded cutting edge helps prevent unwanted digging, allowing the tool to move smoothly across the material.
As with other Michihamono chisels, the blade can be removed and reset as it shortens through sharpening, ensuring long-term usability and consistent cutting performance.
The chisel is fitted with a Sakura wood handle, offering a comfortable grip and excellent balance. With a handle length of approximately 110mm and a total length of 130mm, it feels stable and controlled in the hand, even during longer carving sessions.
A protective cutting edge cap is included to help preserve the blade and improve safety when the tool is not in use.
