The Michihamono Flat (Aisuki) 6.0mm Japanese Woodblock Print Chisel is designed for broader surface carving and efficient material removal in woodblock printing, mokuhanga, and linocut. Manufactured in Japan using robust high steel, the blade delivers reliable sharpness and strength for demanding carving tasks.
The wider flat Aisuki blade excels at smoothing large background areas, flattening surfaces, and refining planes around carved designs. Its rounded cutting edge allows for controlled movement across the block, reducing the risk of catching or gouging.
This chisel features a serviceable blade design, allowing the blade to be removed and reset once repeated sharpening shortens the cutting edge. This ensures the tool remains usable and accurate over many years.
Fitted with a Sakura wood handle, the tool measures approximately 110mm at the handle with a total length of 130mm, offering excellent balance and reduced hand fatigue during extended use.
A protective cutting edge cap is supplied, helping to keep the blade sharp and safe during storage and transport.
