Holbein Woodblock Printmaking Inks – Pigment Paste – 35ml – Tosai Set of 18 Colours
The Holbein Pigment Paste Tosai Set contains 18 intense, finely ground pigments designed for woodblock printmaking, monoprinting and custom paint formulation. Each colour is made using pure pigment suspended in a carefully balanced base of water, wetting agent and dispersing agent, producing strong, vibrant colour with excellent dispersion and consistency.
Unlike traditional paints, Holbein Pigment Paste contains no binders, fillers or unnecessary additives, allowing artists and printmakers full control over how the colour behaves. The paste can be used directly for block printing and monoprinting, or mixed with a water-soluble binder such as gum arabic or acrylic emulsion to create your own custom paint. Simply add small drops of water and mix until the desired tone and consistency are achieved.
This flexibility makes the set ideal for artists who want precise control over colour strength, transparency and surface behaviour. Whether you are working in traditional woodblock printing, experimental printmaking or custom colour mixing, the Holbein pigment system offers professional-grade performance and purity.
Please note that Pigment Paste does not contain a binder on its own, and therefore will not function as a permanent paint unless combined with a suitable water-soluble binder or adhesive. It is recommended to test a small amount before full application to ensure compatibility with your chosen medium. Pigment Paste cannot be used to produce oil paint.
After use, clean brushes and tools in warm water and keep bottles tightly closed to maintain freshness.
