Compact paper for relief printing
Strathmore 300 Series Lightweight Printmaking Paper gives you 40 sheets for developing lino prints, testing carved blocks and producing small finished impressions. Each 8 x 10 inch sheet measures approximately 20.3 x 25.4cm, making this pad practical for a small workspace and easy to handle when printing by hand.
A surface for clear impressions
The natural white paper has a medium texture and a 120gsm weight. Made from high alpha cellulose wood fibre, it is acid-free and designed for relief techniques, including linocut, woodblock and stamp printing. Use it to compare ink coverage, check carved details and refine your pressure before committing to an edition.
Getting a better print
Choose a block smaller than the sheet if you want a clean border for handling, signing or mounting. Remove one sheet from the pad and keep your hands clean when positioning it. Roll an even layer of suitable relief ink onto your block, then lower the paper carefully to avoid smearing.
When hand printing, work methodically across the whole image with your printing tool. If a proof looks patchy, check ink distribution and pressure before adding more ink; excess ink can fill fine cuts. Keep a successful proof beside you as a reference and allow prints to dry separately before stacking.
Choosing and storing your paper
The lightweight sheets suit practice, proofs and small relief prints. Test your chosen ink and technique first, particularly when introducing moisture. Store unused sheets flat and dry, with the pad protected from splashes.
