Description
Awagami Washi – Bamboo Printmaking Paper
110gsm | 56 x 76cm | Single Sheet
Crafted in Tokushima, Japan by the esteemed Awagami Factory, this Bamboo Printmaking Paper is a sustainable and high-quality choice for fine art printmakers. Made from environmentally responsible bamboo fibres, this 110gsm washi paper offers both ecological benefits and excellent print performance.
Unlike conventional cotton papers, bamboo is a fast-growing plant that requires no fertiliser or pesticides, making it a more sustainable choice with a lower ecological footprint. It is biodegradable, abundantly available throughout Asia, and prized for its strength and flexibility in papermaking.
This paper is designed for a variety of printmaking applications, including:
- Lithography
- Screen printing
- Etching & Intaglio
- Relief printing & Lino
- Moku Hanga (Japanese woodblock printing)
The surface has a subtle, organic texture that enhances the aesthetic of both traditional and contemporary prints. Despite its lightweight 110gsm, it remains strong when dampened, making it highly suitable for both water-based and oil-based techniques. Its ability to absorb ink cleanly without bleeding ensures sharp, well-defined prints that capture even the finest carved or drawn detail.
Each sheet measures 56 x 76cm and is sold individually, ideal for testing, limited editions, or small projects.
