Incredible customer support! I ordered registration pins & tabs. The tabs are thick and really nice while the pins are strong, but elegantly thin and crafted really well. I’m thrilled to have them in my toolkit.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Hickman Design has a fantastic range of printmaking supplies, and I was delighted with the quality of the Essdee lino sheets and Japanese rubber brayer I ordered.
The service was incredibly speedy, delivery was quick, and everything was carefully packaged with obvious care and attention. It’s always lovely to support a business that clearly values both its products and its customers.
As someone rediscovering printmaking, I really appreciated being able to find quality materials in one place. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back for future supplies.

I found Hickman Designs via another printmaker online as they mentioned a new sharpening tool set they had discovered. I was fed up with paying to have my tools sharpened and as she mentioned she had purchased the EZ Care set from Hickman who were new to me I clicked on their website. Whilst ordering the sharpening set I found an amazing pair of Skull Scissors which I had to have along with some Cranfield safe wash printing ink. Hickson delivered free and quickly and I was really pleased with how the sharpening set worked especially as it will save me money. Will definitely use Hickman Designs again.

Versatile Japanese Carving for Controlled Line Work
The Power Grip – Japanese Cutting Tool – V 3mm is designed for artists who need both precision and versatility in their carving. Featuring a sharp 3mm V-shaped blade, this tool creates clean, well-defined grooves that are perfect for outlines, textures, and expressive mark-making in lino, woodblock, and other relief materials. It offers excellent control while allowing slightly broader cuts than finer V tools, making it a highly practical addition to any carving toolkit.
High-Quality Japanese Steel
Crafted from durable Japanese steel, the blade retains its sharp edge through repeated use, ensuring smooth cutting with minimal effort. The carefully shaped V profile produces crisp, consistent lines, making it ideal for bold outlines, texture building, and structured mark work across your design.
Comfortable and Reliable Control
The ergonomic Power Grip handle is lightweight and comfortable, allowing steady, controlled carving even during extended sessions. Its secure grip helps reduce hand strain while giving you the confidence to carve accurately across both simple and detailed areas.
Ideal for Medium Line and Texture Work
The 3mm V tool is well suited for:
- Clear outlines and structured line work
- Textures and expressive mark-making
- Pattern carving and decorative detail
- Controlled groove cutting in lino and wood
- General-purpose relief carving
Whether you are refining details or building strong carved lines within your design, the Power Grip V 3mm delivers reliable precision, smooth performance, and the trusted quality of traditional Japanese carving tools.

Very pleased with these tools I used them on wood as well as Lino and they are very sharp and controllable
The set has a good range to start but adding the other sizes covers most tasks
They are a professional tool at an excellent price
