The Speedball 11 × 14 inch Printmaking Paper Pad contains 15 sheets of white, acid-free 245gsm paper. Choose this larger format for an expressive woodcut, a detailed linocut or a print combining several elements. The broad sheet lets you consider the border as part of the composition, rather than filling every available area.
Plan your image and margins
Draw a 279.4 × 355.6 mm paper outline and place your block or plate within it before starting. Leave practical handling space around the printed image. If the work will be framed, check the intended mount opening and frame dimensions against the actual sheet size. These are inch-based dimensions: use the measured sheet size when choosing a mount, folder or printing setup.
A smooth, absorbent printing surface
Made from high alpha-cellulose, the paper has a smooth surface and good absorbency for layered ink applications. It offers a substantial sheet for relief prints and other printmaking processes. Match the paper preparation to your ink and technique: follow the ink maker’s guidance when deciding whether to print dry or damp, then make a proof before committing to an edition.
Proof, compare and build a print run
The fifteen-sheet pad suits a short edition, larger proof impressions or colour-development work. Keep a separate test sheet for checking ink and pressure before moving on to the final run, especially when printing broad solid areas. When adding another colour, let the earlier layer reach the stage recommended by your ink manufacturer before continuing. Keep your hands and work area clean to protect the unprinted margins.
