The Speedball 5 × 7 inch Printmaking Paper Pad contains 20 sheets of white, acid-free 245gsm paper. Plan small linocuts, stamped illustrations or a series of miniature prints on a manageable sheet. The compact format is useful for testing a new image before working on a larger composition.

Plan your image and margins

Try a single botanical motif, a small landscape or a bold initial with space around the image. Draw a 127 × 177.8 mm paper template first, then position your block inside it. Allow room for handling and a border if you intend to mount or frame the finished print. These are inch-based dimensions: use the measured sheet size when choosing a mount, folder or printing setup.

A smooth, absorbent printing surface

Made from high alpha-cellulose, the paper has a smooth surface and good absorbency for layered ink applications. It offers a substantial sheet for relief prints and other printmaking processes. Match the paper preparation to your ink and technique: follow the ink maker’s guidance when deciding whether to print dry or damp, then make a proof before committing to an edition.

Proof, compare and build a print run

For a short print run, keep one sheet as your reference proof and compare later impressions against it. The twenty-sheet pad gives you separate surfaces for adjusting ink coverage, pressure and small details. When adding another colour, let the earlier layer reach the stage recommended by your ink manufacturer before continuing. Keep your hands and work area clean to protect the unprinted margins.
